Blu-Ray DVD Player the HD Champion

by Eric Limburg on Feb 24, 2008 4:38am

For all you HD lovers out there the fight is finally over.  We can all move on and feel safe in purchasing a high definition DVD player (Blu-Ray) that will match the capacity of our HD screens and also take us into the future.  Not only does Blu-Ray make movies look great in HD with its high resolution 1080p but it sounds great with movies being mixed in 7.1, an awesome upgrade from 5.1 by providing a more enveloping rear sound field.  Just go to a THX Certified movie theater near you to know what I am talking about.  Before if you were ahead of the game and were watching movies (most of the DVD's out there) mixed for 5.1 surround but had a 7.1 surround setup the Pro Logic II chip in your receiver would simulate surround to your 7.1 system as if it were mixed that way.  Ahh the beauty of technology.  But now we don't need that back door to fully take advantage of what comes on a Blu-Ray movie disc.  No computer chip or simulation but now th real thing mixed the real way in 7.1.  Unbelievable sound accuracy.  The beauty of all of this is that it is making watching movies in the comfort of your own home easier and more enjoyable.  Although prices for the Blu-Ray players probably won't go down much for a while, like they have been the last several months because of the bow out of the HD DVD platform mainly pushed by Toshiba, you can rest asurd we will be in the Blu-RAy world for a while.  This also doesn't mean you should throw away your DVD's like you did your laser discs or VHS tapes.  Blu-Ray players do play regular DVD's and will upscale their resolution of 480p to 1080p.  As Blu-Ray movie prices begin to come down or in your budget you can begin purchasing those instead of regular DVD's.  Blu-Ray drives will also be very popular in your PC especially for their burning capability and storage capacity of up to 50 GB with dual layer discs.  Of course Play Station 3 (PS3) incorporates a Blu-Ray player for its games and will also play Blu-Ray DVD's.  To get the most bang for your buck and to make your kids or the kid in you happy get a PS3 and use it for your movies as well as gaming.  This is what I plan to do.  If you have questions or comments on this subject or others please contact us. http://dmxed.com/contact

Now Is The Time For Business Technology Purchases

by Tijs Limburg on Feb 24, 2008 4:38am

2008 may be one of the best years for expending funds on new business technology.  This is due to the recent announcements of available tax incentives that will allow businesses to depreciate their capital expenditures faster.

Businesses will have the opportunity to write off over 50% in capital investments in the same year that they are purchased.  As much as $250,000 in expenditures can be immediately written off by small businesses, which is double the previous amount allowed.

"With new technologies released recently that are just about to make dramatic changes in the business and workplace world, this is a great time for IT customers to replace old equipment or expand their current IT infrastructure.  And DMX is prepared to help," said DMX Chairman and CEO Tijs Limburg.  He added that "The time is extraordinarily good to upgrade networking equipment, complete a changeover from analog voice to VoIP, revamp your server or network storage systems, or add mobility options to your business network.  Doing so now will increase your business productivity, reduce business costs, and allow your business to save taxes on your profitability for 2008."

Stimulus Plan for Businesses Passed

by Tijs Limburg on Feb 24, 2008 4:37am

President Bush signed into law today the Tax Stimulus Plan for 2008, backed by a rare bi-partisan support in the House and Senate.

Among other incentives, the bill provides businesses a greater opportunity to invest in new equipment, or to replace depreciated or outdated equipment for their businesses.  The tax code was ammended to state:

(Sec. 102) Increases in 2008: (1) the expensing allowance for depreciable business assets to $250,000; and (2) the maximum investment phase-out threshold for such expensing allowance to $800,000.

(Sec. 103) Increases to 50% (from 30%) the amount of the adjusted basis of certain depreciable property (e.g., equipment and computer software) that may be claimed as a deductible expense in 2008.

We at DMX stand ready to help you as a business to take advantage of the tax incentives and the new technologies that have recently begun to transform the computer and networking tools once again.

Please contact us today to get quotes and information on new equipment.
